Bumped corners and spine ends. Dusty top text block edge; edges tanned; untrimmed. Endpapers starting to tan; bookplate on front pastedown, red biro 'room 29' on front free endpaper. Hinges cracked. Small corner cut front half-title page. Page margins tanning, text block unaffected. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight. Protected with plastic cover, not adhered. 8vo. Introduction by Herbert Spencer and essays by various writers. Essays include: The Impracticability of Socialism; The Limits of Liberty; Liberty for Labour; State Socialism in the Antipodes; Working-Class Discontent; Investment; Free Education; The Housing of the Working Classes and the Poor; The Evils of State Trading as Illustrated by the Post Office; Free Libraries; The state and Electrical Distribution; The True Line of Deliverance.
