A scarce first edition copy of Frederick Edward Hulme's illustrated work on plants, illustrated with striking chromolithograph plates. The scarce first edition of this work.An extensive study of plants, looking into their growth and ornamental value in gardens, a wonderful work on botany.Illustrated with a chromolithograph frontispiece, and forty-three plates, thirty-nine of which are chromolithograph.Collated, complete.By Frederick Edward Hulme, an amateur botanist, best known for his work 'Familiar Wild Flowers'.Bookplate of Vernon Bonbow to the front paste down. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with light rubbing and marks to the boards and spine. Minor bumping to the spine and extremities, a little loss to the head and tail of the spine. Front hinge is starting but firm. Bookplate to the front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with a few light spots, mostly to the first and last few pages. Very Good
