Strasbourg: Melchior Pauschinger Book. Near Fine. Hardcover. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. An account of the seiges of the War of the Austrian Succession (1740-1748). This is a richly illustrated account of the seiges of Flemish towns, with plans of their fortifications. The description of the sieges is divided into 24 parts, one for each town, in chronological order, from Menin in 1744 to Maastricht in 1748. Contemporary full calf/boards, expertly rebacked; spine with 6 raised bands, gilt lettering on two. All edges tinted red; marbled pastedown and free end papers. 1 folding map, 24 folding battle plans, all with minor hand colouring. Plan 21 is bound upside down. P. title, blank, (6), 1-113. Occasional dampstaining in the lower right corner of the pages, otherwise a very good to excellent copy, with crisp, clean maps. Text in French..
