Octavo. Brilliant blue cloth covered boards with gilt lettering and simple decorations on spine; Grey, red and gilt lettering and illustration on front board (depicting a large horseshoe with a rider chasing a dog beneath it). Top edge gilt, bottom edges uncut. B/W engraved plates throughout. Hand-colouring on title page and frontispiece.
