The sixth novel in MacLeod's warm and humorous mystery series featuring the husband and wife team of Max Bittersohn, private detective specializing in art theft, and Sarah Kelling Bittersohn, amateur sleuth and Boston Brahmin. This time it's Sarah's turn, investigating the disappearance of "Ernestina," the priceless old portrait belonging to her aunt, and the fatal "accident" of Charlie Daventer, the plain old man. Text is clean and unmarked, tight and square. The pictorial wrappers show a slight shadow of residue from a price sticker in the upper corner of front cover, o/w only very minor surface and edgewear, no significant flaws. Collectable.
