About This Item

London: Michael Joseph. Very Good in Very Good- dust jacket. 1975. Reprint. Hardcover. Dark Rose coloured cloth boards with bright gilt titling/logo to the spine, and the initials CFS entwined in gilt on the bottom front corner of the front board. In the original publisher's decorated dustjacket, illustrated by Biro. The dustjacket is Not price clipped. The boards have a light 'crease' line running down the centre of the spine - due to a single read of the book. There is also a very very slight 'discolouration'/'bumping' to the very edges of the boards - negligible. The dustjacket has a couple of very small closed chips/tears all of which are now neatly repaired to the reverse of the d/j with clear archive tape, o/w the d/j is complete. There is a little foxing (brown spots) & a very few light marks mainly to the rear d/j cover, but the d/j is generally very clean, now in a new protective clear - removable - bookfilm plastic cover and looks Very Good. The page fore-edges are slightly browned. The top edge is rose-coloured. Decorated endpapers. NO Inscriptions or Marks. 216 pp. Overall a Very Clean, Tight and Bright copy. Originally published in 1930, this is a crime novel with socialogical & psychological insights into the 'ordinary man' who commits murder. Classic crime from the pen of the Author who wrote the wonderful 'Hornblower' series. "Three advertising men decide to kill a colleague to avoid dismissal and the grim prospect of joblessness. Their leader acquires a taste for crime, but eventually gets his comeuppance...." ..... Although written in the 1930s - Could be a tale of today! ; Greenwich Edition; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .
