Edge and corner wear, scuffed and scratched, leather bound spine is missing (included), hinges are cracked with the front hinge detached as well as the ffep and next few pages up to the frontis, corners are bumped and rubbed, shelf worn, rfep is missing, former owner's name is stamped on the second page, overall a readable used copy! Leather bound with gilt lettering on the detached spine. Very very rare and hard-to-find title! 512 unmarked and uncreased historical and informative pages! "Books almost without number have been written upon the subject treated in this work. Unfortunately, most of these works are utterly unreliable, being filled with gross misrepresentations and exaggerations, and being designed as advertising mediums for ignorant and unscrupulous charlatans, or worse than worthless patent nostrums...." ---- from the Introduction..
