London: Macmillan and Co., Limited, 1901. Leather. Very Good. 7.5" by 5". None. Lord Rosebery's biography on the English statesman William Pitt, in a prize tree calf binding. The eighth edition. First published in 1891. Part of the 'Twelve English Statesman' series. Bound in a full tree calf prize binding for 'Hymers College' with their crest to the front. This biography was written by Archibald Philip Primrose, the fifth Earl of Rosebery, a British liberal politician and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom between 1894-5. Rosebery wrote a few biographies in his time on noted figures such as Napoleon and Lord Randolph Churchill. The work provides details on the life of William Pitt the Younger, a British statesman and the youngest and last prime minister of Great Britain before the creation of the United Kingdom. Pitt went on to be Prime Minster again after the Acts of Union in 1800. Bound in a full tree calf prize binding for 'Hymers College' with their crest to the front boards. Externally smart with slight marks to the boards, front joint starting to the head and fading to the spine. Bookseller's label to the front pastedown. Internally firmly bound with bright and generally clean pages with light spotting to the front blanks only. Very Good
