Frontispiece with tissue guard and six additional illustrations. Contains sketches of travels and labours in New Guinea during the years 1878 to 1886 and covers preparations for trading voyages, stays among cannibals, tribal wars, mission work in 1884, New Guinea celebrities amongst other reports. Binding rubbed with small wavy spot due to water exposure on back cover. Plate of Religious Tract Society awarding prize for Proficiency in Biblical Knowledge pasted to inside cover. Light sporadic foxing at front, end, and fore-edge. Binding and interior in overall good+ condition.
