This book by Taylor Caldwell could be considered one of her best. It's extremely well written and a historically accurate depiction of how Marcus Tullius Cicero
spent a lifetime trying to save the Republic of Rome. The Roman Empire holds the
record for the longest-lasting civilization but fell due to government corruption
and the complacency of the citizens. This book is rich in Roman history and will instill in one great respect for one of the greatest lawyers, orators, civil servants, and poets to have ever lived.
