This is the FIRST U.S. EDITION THUS of this early Nineteenth Century classic, which was translated and published throughout the world. 239 pages, plus complete publisher adverts, including "nearly ready" on front ffep, and, in the rear, 9 pages of "valuable works" along with the Harper's Family Library "designed for adult persons." ACCEPTABLE PLUS condition with no DJ: staining throughout, heavy writing to reverse front and rear covers + front and back ffep's (incl. who gave book to whom in Murray family of Baltimore throughout the 19th Century).; no interior marks; heavy rubbing and some chipping to cover, yet still tight to binding, small pasted paper to spine giving still readable particulars. Book fully readable.
