Cf. Sidney Mendelssohn. South African Bibliography, with with several variable compositions of this album differing in bindings and in selections of photographs. "Several albums containing the same text and varied selections of plates were published by the firm G.B. & Co. George Budricks appears as a 'picture framer and dealer' in Juta's Directory of Cape Town from 1897 onwards, but only in 1910 is the firm listed at G. Budricks & Co., fine art publisher and manufacturer, P.O. Box 1018". Faint foxing here and there, mostly confined to white margins, first plate more severe and affecting image. A remarkable collection of beautifully handcoloured photogravures, with views of towns and cities and including a number of gold mines and other industrial sites. The photographer isn't mentioned neither on the images nor in the text.
