Jean Heald, 1928. Hardcover. Very Good. 126 page work that does not have a fold out map at the end. Green cloth covers with gilt lettering on the spine and front cover. There is a pictorial paste on of a Panama scene on the front cover. Some age toning inside the covers mostly. Wear at the head & tail of the spine. Wear at the head & tail of the spine and at cover corners. All in all given its age of about a century the book is in quite nice condition. Available for immediate shipment, carefully packed!

Dark green cloth with a color paste-on graphic with stamped gilt titles. 8vo; 9.25 inches tall; 126, [2] pages; numerous black and white photographs with a detailed folding map attached at the rear measuring 25 by 16 inches, The map was drawn by Charles H. Owens of the Los Angeles Times. The bindings are tight and square. Text clean, light even toning. Moderate shelf handling wear. Spotting with loss of color on the front lower edge,  clumsily recolored.. The book contains insights tailored for tourists, with added sections on the Panama Railroad and the Panama Canal. Drawing from over a decade of experience in Panama, the author delivers a comprehensive depiction of the country, covering its people, architecture, history, culture, and offering details about the canal. Profusely illustrated. Black and white map approximately 24 inches by 20 inches, folded repeatedly. The map was drawn by Charles H. Owens of the Los Angeles Times Pencil notation on fep includes the name of a previous owner and 7-9- S. S. Zacapa March 16. The ship was one of the fleet operated by the United Fruit Company. This includes information for the Tourist and has sections on Picturesque Panama, on The Panama Railroad, and on the Panama Canal.
