About This Item

New York: Alfred A. Knopf. Fine in Near Fine dust jacket. 1975. First Edition; First Printing. Cloth. 0394498496 . A handsome Special first edition/first printing, Limited to 250 copies SIGNED by author John Updike, this being "out of series". Unread Fine condition in Near Fine dust-jacket with sun-faded spine and minor edge wear. Very Good sunned publisher's slip-case with only minor shelf wear. From the collection of Betty Anderson, legendary art director of publisher Knopf in the late 20th century, as evidenced by her (small and unobtrusive) inventory number and signature on front paste down; In this compilation of his non-fiction work, John Updike discourses on other authors, the future of the novel, feminism, the nobility of Africa and how to improve ones golf swing. He approaches his subjects wholly, grouping the reviews topically, thus giving the collection continuity and a sense of progression; 8vo; Signed by Author .
