"At the Venice Biennale of 2001, the Argentinian artist Leandro Erlich exhibited his now famous installation, Swimming Pool. In what appeared to be a fully equipped pool, people could be seen under the water, standing, talking and moving around seemingly without any need to come up for air. Description:
Artsept was a little-known periodical published in 1963 by the writer and film critic Raymond Bellour. Due to financial problems only three issues were published. With an editorial board consisting in particular of Raymond Bellour, Jean Cayrol, Armand Gatti, Jean-Louis Leutrat, Jean Michaud and Bernard Pingaud, Artsept's mission was to manifest film as the seventh art, embracing all other arts in their discourse. Each issue was dedicated to a specific topic, the first one to "real cinema", the second to "cinema and truth", and the last one to "love".On the cover of the first issue of Artsept appear the names of Cayrol, Colpi, Durand, Gatti, Marker, Resnais, and Varda. This reads like the "Who's Who" of the Left Bank Group and already indicates a different approach to film than André Bazin's famous Cahiers du Cinéma. Each issue contains a comprehensive filmography and bibliography of the filmmakers who appear as authors or subjects in Arstept.

A collection of Edward Colvers captivating photographic works. For over 25 years, Colver has been one of the main documentarians of the Southern California punk rock scene. This book serves both as catalog to Colvers retrospective show at the Grand Central Art Center Main Gallery at Cal State Fullerton, and as a testament to his impressive career. The exhibition runs from July 1 - August 20, 2006, yet this book is a timeless coffee table album on one of the 20th centurys most important underground photographers.
He was visible at every punk show within a seventy-mile radius from downtown LA to Riverside County. He was trusted, so his photographs were a part of what was going on rather than being… Read More

Description:
Routledge, 1990. 8vo size trade paperback; 390 pages including index From back: "This is a unique study, continuing the work of Merleau-Ponty and Heidegger, and using the techniques of phenomenology against the prevailing nihilism of our culture. It expands our understanding of the human potential for spiritual self-realization by interpreting it as the developing of a bodily-felt awareness informing our gestures and movements. The author argues that a psychological focus on our experiences of well-being and pathology as embodied beings contribute significantly to a historically relevant critique of idealogy. It also provides an essential touchstone in experience for a fruitful individual and collective response to the dangers of nihilism." Edgewear, moderate wear to covers with sunned spine; marginalia, underlining and very light highlighting on least 58 pages prior to page 107; two previously folded page corners, some stray ink marks on outside pages.
