1855 Ingoldsby Legends Occult Esoteric Tenniel Leech Cruikshank Illustrated 3v"ABRACADABRA!"
A fine 1855 printing of the famous "Ingoldsby
Legends." This collection of myths, ghost stories, and poetry was written by R.H. Barham, who is better known by his penname, Thomas Ingoldsby. These legends were extremely popular from their inception in 1837, but this edition was illustrated with George Cruikshank illustrations! While this collection is somewhat less popular today than it was in the 19th-century, it does include aspects that are still recognizable – the magic command "Abracadabra" and a version of the children's song Bingo!
This 1855 'three-series' edition includes illustrations by George Cruikshank, John Leech, and John Tenniel.

Description:
1678 1ed Sibylline Oracles PAGAN Prophecy Occult Philosophy RARE Jesuit CrassetJean Crasset was a 17th-century French Jesuit who was best known for his treatises of asceticism and philosophy. One of his many books was 'Dissertation on the Oracles of Sibyl'. At the end of the 17th-century several treatises were written on the
Sibylline Oracles many of which focused on the pagan origins of the oracles. Crasset, according to Buitenwerf,
"firmly believed that the Sibylline Oracles were divine utterances of the Greek prophetess Sibyl."
Crasset sought to prove that the Sibylline Oracles were nothing more than false Christian narratives, He also defended the early church fathers who wrote that the Oracles
were genuinely written by Sibyls, making references to great philosophers and historians such as Suetonius and Saint Augustine and his famous 'City of God'.

binding is very clean- just a touch of edgewear/shelfwear. They used a two tone quarter green cloth over gray cloth and the green portion still is glossy. Internals very clean ( not even any pricing marks in pencil) though there is a paper clip indentation at the lower edge affecting the title, onwards for 20 pages. Unclipped wrapper has only some rubbing but I detect no tears, creases or chips. The paper is wonderful; it strikes me as feeling and looking like "linen" (not your business/office grade) but I am by no means an expert on paper. Hulme, Keri: The Bone People. Louisiana State University Press, A tale of New Zealand. Stated United States First Edition, 1985. 450 pages, indexed. WINNER OF THE PEGASUS PRIZE FOR LITERATURE AND THE BOOKER PRIZE. Used. Very Good/Very Good unclipped original $17.95 dust jacket. Summary: "The Bone People, first published in 1984 by Spiral, New Zealand. About this book: The Bone People is an unusual story of love. It is unusual in the telling, the subject matter, and the form of love that the story depicts. This is in no way a romance; it is filled with violence, fear, and twisted emotions. At the story's core, however, are three people who struggle very hard to figure out what love is and how to find it. Hulme won New Zealand's Pegasus Prize for Literature (1984) for The Bone People. Then the book went on to win the prestigious Booker Prize (1985).
