About This Item

George G. Harrap & Company Ltd, London, 1957. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good Condition/Good. Illustrator: Kate Seredy. Illustrated endpapers. The text is illustrated with sepia toned full-page, quarter page, half page, vignettes and the occasional double page illustrations by Kate Seredy. Basically, there is at least one illustration to every two pages. Bright yellow coloured boards with dark red coloured illustration to the front panel and dark red coloured titles to the backstrip. The text has been printed in a sepia coloured ink, along with the reproductions of the illustrations. Illustrated dustwrapper, again by Kate Seredy, white coloured titles to the front panel and yellow coloured titles to the backstrip. Philomena's Babushka told her, on her deathbed, to go to Prague and ask for her aunt. But, when Philomena arrived in Prague . She couldn't find her aunt's home, but through a series of adventures (and with the help of Babushka) she finally finds her aunt. Softening of the backstrip with rubbing of the book corners and lower book edges. Faint foxing to the first few and last few pages of the book. Moisture marks to the top right-hand corner of the rear panel, commensurate with damaged to the dustwrapper (please see photographs). Chipping to the dustwrapper corners and backstrip. The dustwrapper at some stage has been in contact with moisture / water and the results of same can be seen to the verso of the dustwrapper and to the top right-hand corner of the rear dustwrapper panel. Some creasing of the dustwrapper edges with rubbing of the dustwrapper panels. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. [6], 7-93, [3] pages,. Dust Jacket price-clipped.
