About This Item

N.p.: N.p., 1954. Revised Final Draft script for the 1954 film. Presentation copy belonging to noted Hollywood producer Jerry Wald, with his name in gilt on the spine.

Jerry Wald is best remembered for his long and successful association with Warner Brothers as both a screenwriter and producer of a number of notable films, including "Mildred Pierce" (1945), "Humoresque" (1946), "Key Largo" (1948), and "Flamingo Road" (1949). In the 1950s he moved to Twentieth Century-Fox, and was the producer there for "An Affair to Remember" (1957), "Peyton Place" (1957), and "Sons and Lovers" (1960).

After eight years of marriage, Nina (Judy Holliday) and Robert Tracy (Jack Lemmon) decide to divorce. After pursuing several unsuccessful relationships each, they find each other one night in a nightclub dancing the mambo together. This was the second film to star both Holliday and Lemmon in 1954, after "It Should Happen to You."

Bound in light blue cloth with navy quarter leather binding, with five raised bands and gilt titles on the spine. Title page present, dated March 18, 1954, with credits for screenwriter George Axelrod. 140 leaves, with the last page of text numbered 134. Mimeograph duplication, rectos only with pale yellow, eye-rest green, and blue revision pages throughout, dated variously between March 29, 1954 and May 5, 1954. Pages Near Fine, binding Near Fine, with light toning and rubbing to the extremities of the fabric.
