Leipzig: Insel Verlag, 1916 Elephant Folio, (13 1/8 x 17 5/8 inches),in half cream colored line over blue paper covered boards, with the title blocked in gold to the spine, printed in Gothic blackletter type on laid paper, 335pp., First Edition Thus. In German. **Berlin poet , jounalist and dramatist Arno Holz (1863 - 1929), was much nominated for the Nobel prize in Literature, releasing this collection of poems, his best known work, in 1898. He is noted for the use of a "consistent naturalism" writing style. An example poem: "Red roofs! From the chimneys, here and there, smoke, up, high, in sunny air, now and then pigeons. It is afternoon. A hen is cackling out of Mohdricker's garden, the whole city smells of coffee." CONDITION: Very Good Plus: Boards and corners very mildly rubbbed. Hinges are in order.
