John was only 16 when he enlisted in the 31st VA Infantry. Initial service was in Jackson's Division, later Ewell's. He joined the newly formed 20th VA Cav in 1863. Believe the book was never marketed, but was published solely for family dissemination. First copy of the first edition seen by this dealer in 25 years.
