London: Henry Colburn, 1827. Book. Illus. by Folding Map with Route in Red, 4 Handcolored Lithographs, 8 Text illustrations. Fine. Full-Leather. 3rd Edition. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. "By Bussorah, Bagdad, the Ruins of Babylon, Curdistan, the Court of Persia, the Western Shore of the Caspian Sea, Astrakhan, Nishney Novogorod, Moscow & St. Peterburgh." This is a splendid new binding,. in speckled tan calf with raised bands, fresh gilt titles on dark brown labels, and hand marbled endpapers. Mild foxing inside with no prior owner marks. George Keppel (1799-1891) wrote this as a young man, later becoming Earl of Albemarle. Wikipedia notes he is the great great grandfather of the current Queen Consort, Camilla. Pages 338 and 351 .
