Collection of works by the Peredvizhniki, often called The Wanderers or The Itinerants in English, a group of Russian realist artists who formed a cooperative in protest against academic restrictions, which became the Society for Travelling Art Exhibitions in 1870. This volume appears to celebrate the centenary in 1970. Text entirely in Russian. Introduction 16 pages. 143pp illustrated with 104 colour plates. Short biographies of the artists to rear, accompanied by black and white photographs of each. Gilt title to top board and spine. Minor marking to boards, otherwise very good copy with no inscriptions..
