Garden City, NY: Doubleday & Company, Inc.. Good. 1951. Hardcover. 214 pp. Junior Edition, issued by Doubleday in 1951. Wonderful illustrations by the author. Dark red hard covers with black embossed image of a house. Edges rubbed, spine joints rubbed and just starting to separate. Interior green end papers with aprons, witches' hats, brooms and "plum pudding surprise" . Rear has removed library pocket remains, half title old owner inscript, verso of title page has library stamp, a small stain to the fore-edge, otherwise nice. A classic and satisfying story about trying to fit in, meeting other people who don't quite, and finding out the world is an interesting place. Surprisingly hard to find. ; Ex-Library; B&W Illustrations; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 214 pages .
