About This Item
New York: Abrams. Near Fine in Near Fine dust jacket. 1985. First Edition. Hardcover. 231 pages; Clean and secure in original binding in very nice dustjacket. Filled with striking photographic portraits of the movers and shakers of Washington, DC. As President Reagan's personal photographer since 1980, Evans has been in an ideal position to observe the Washington Scene. As he conceived the dream of photographing in a distinctive yet uniform portrait style as many as possible of these individuals, choosing them on a completely non-partisan basis. In 1982, with official sanction, he established The Portrait Project, a nonprofit corporation, to support his work and to distribute the portraits to archival institutions. By late 1984, Evans had pictured over 600 individuals from the Joint Chiefs of Staff to Assistant Food Service Coordinator of the White House. A marvelous achievement herein documented. .
