Reviews

On Feb 28 2018, a reader said:
Hermione Lee's biography of Penelope Fitzgerald gives a fascinating and clear picture of her life, her marriage, family and friends, and the trouble she had to earn enough to keep her familyand to keep them afloat (literally), at one point in their lives (see "Offshore"), and finally to get the time to write, something se knew from anearly age that she was destined to do. She did not manage it until in her sixties. She had to be the chief breadwinner of the family, which she achieved by reviewing books and teaching. Hermione Lee takes us through each of her books in turn, helping us to appreciate and understand each of them better.
