Protected by a removable Brodart clear-plastic sleeve. NO owner's name or bookplate. NO remainder mark. Pages are clean. No foxing. No underlining. No highlighting. No margin notes. Contains a biography of McGavock by Herschel Gower, and his journals -- edited by Gower (for 1848-1851) & by Jack Allen (for 1853-1862). Randall W. McGavock (1826-1863) was a Harvard law student, mayor of Nashville, colonel in the Confederate Army, a prisoner of war, keen observer, and diarist with literary talent. Illustrations. Portraits. Document facsimiles. Index. Bound in the original gray cloth, lettered in shiny gold on front cover, and over a blue spine panel.
