About This Item
Americana 2032 Matthews, Brander, 1852-1929. Pen and ink; papers on subjects of more or less importance. New York and London: Longmans, Green, & Company, 1888, 7 l., 229 pages Limited edition. Number 107 of 110 copies on Van Gelder hand-made paper printed in 1888. (Printed by DeVinne). There is a gift inscription on front and back endpapers . It seems that the author, Brander Matthews, started to inscribe it but realized his mistake and then went to the proper endpaper. The back endpaper says: JK from BM, July 1914. The front says : "This is topside. (See back for the reason for this explanation). JK (who is O.K), BM, July, 1914". The book is in very good shape, couple of small dings to the top edge of the front cover panel. Many of the pages are still uncut. Be the first to read it. $20.00
Some of the essays by Matthews include: On the Antiquity of Jests; The Ethics of Plagiarism; The Philosophy of the Short Story; The Songs of the Civil War; Poker-Talk
