London: Strahan & Co., Publishers, 1871. 1st. Hardback. Very Good. First edition hardback, 1871, in marbled paper covered boards quarter bound in olive calf, the spine with five raised bands, gilt decoration and maroon gilt title label. In overall very good used condition with only slight signs of age, handling and storage - leather a little marked. Binding tight and appears almost unopened - possibly a later professional rebinding. Internally clean, no annotation or inscriptions; text and illustrations bright and clear throughout. A particularly handsome, well looked after copy. Photographs available. Not an old library book.
