Illustrated buckram boards/Fine showing trace discoloration. DJ/None. Pecos Bill is an American cowboy, apocryphally immortalized in numerous tall tales of the Old West. This volume of folklore, winner of the 1938 Newbury Honor Award, is written for young readers by educator James Cloyd Bowman (1880 - 1961), who says, "Pecos Bill is a gentleman at heart, and directs his course by the commonsense, homely virtues of the Frontier. He represents the best and most characteristic broad humor of America." Illustrations, w/6 full-color plates, by artist Laura Bannon (1895 - 1963).
