A number of light moisture stains to the front board; underlying boards exposed along the edges; text block just beginning to pull away from the spine at the base; 5 1/2" closed tear to the frontispiece. *Extra postage will be required due to size and weight. American artist Albert Beck Wenzell (1864-1917) was born in Detroit, Michigan. He moved to New York City, where he became an illustrator, known for capturing the manners and fashions of the affluent society in the United States at that time.

This copy with a color frontis and color two page center fold, with numerous black and white illustrations, pages not numbered. The cloth is spotted, frontis with a 1/2" closed tear to the bottom margin, quite occasional finger soil, covers worn at the tips, front hinge broken. Still a large book with clean bright illustrations.

One-inch tear along one edge at head of spine, small bump at foot of spine, some cover smudging and a few cover spots, nice internals, including the color plates, Very Good Plus. . Very Good. A few small, faint blotches to the covers, and light bumps to the corners - see image. ; Book is in Very Good condition with a tight binding and clean, unmarked text and illustrations. Scarce in this condition considering the size and weight of the volume. The artist was a contemporary of ''Charles Dana Gibson. Was the Founder of the Society of Illustrators, and noted for his social commentary. ; Folio 13" - 23" tall .

Color frontispiece, extensive full-page illustrations (including many 2-page spreads, one in color). Very good. Binding gently edgeworn and age toned, though tight and internally near fine. A lovely first edition of this Gibson-esque illustrator's work, accompanied by brief texts, poems, etc. Fascinating glimpse into turn-of-the-century life, much of it of the upper crust New York high society variety.
