About This Item

[London]: W.H. Allen ('Printed in Finland by Uusi Kivipaino Oy'), 1959. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Dust Jacket Included. [London], W.H. Allen ('Printed in Finland by Uusi Kivipaino Oy'), 1959 [first edition]. Large quarto, [2]-63 pages (including the endpapers) with numerous colour illustrations by Miroslav Sasek. Colour-pictorial papered boards slightly rubbed, with minimal light wear at the extremities; occasional light foxing; minor signs of use (mainly fingermarks in a variety of colours - the book comes from the estate of a well-known local watercolour artist!); a very good copy with the dustwrapper a little sunned, creased, chipped and torn with slight loss. The first edition of the first book in the famous 'This is ...' series, written and illustrated by Miroslav Sasek (1916-1980), the exiled Czech architect and graphic artist.
