Introduction by Laurence B. Kantor followed by articles by various contributing scholars. First edition. Profusely illustrated in color and black and white. A monumental work, issued in connection with the exhibition under the same title held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art from November 17, 1994 to February 26, 1995. This work focuses on the often overlooked painting genres of manuscript illumination, panel paintings and works in perishable media [e.g. drawings, embroideries and reverse painting on glass]. No previous ownership marks. A clean, square, fresh and unmarked copy, like new. Fine in a fine dust-jacket.
