[14], 266, [8] pages; Contents clean and secure in original pinkish brown cloth binding with gilt lettering at spine and front board and six gilt ornaments to front board of bird with a leaved branch with berries. Binding has some wear at spine ends and lower corners, a half inch abrasion at edge of spine and a half inch spot on rear board. OCLC 317949455 Cloth binding designed by Charles Ricketts; endpapers by Lucien Pissarro. Illustrated with 23 Plates; ornate capitals and a few text illustrations. Literary contents include Austin Dobson, Edmund Gosse, Max Beerbohm et al. Illustrations includes pictures by Gustave Moreau, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Charles Condor, Edward Burne Jones, George Frederick Watts, Charles Hazelwood Shannon; Walter Crane, et al.; lacks the two leaves with Lucien Pissarro woodcut (pp 59-62). Includes the essay "The Pictures of Gustav Moreau" by Gleeson White. .

Pp. 266 + ads, frontis + 23 plates, one colour plate and illustrated endpapers by Pisarro, 4to, brown cloth with gilt decorations. A tight, complete, original copy with no owner's marks, bright fresh boards with spine slightly faded but titles clear. Half-inch pull-tear to head of spine, backstrip splitting a bit along one joint around three inches, otherwise no serious flaws. The Pisarro plate is in Fine condition with no foxing, no flaws. A lovely book.

Collected literary works illustrated by artists such as Gustave Moreau, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Sire Edward Burne-Jones, Giulio Camagnola, Walter Crane, Charles Ricketts and others, along with an original color woodcut by Lucien Pissarro who also designed the endpapers. Mauve pink cloth lettered and decorated in a dove design in gilt, 10.25 inchest tall. Some expected external wear including a very short fabric tear to the spine foot, a little bit of edge bumping, some uneven sun fading to an area on the rear cover, good hinges, sound text block, clean pages with a name and 1897 date on the front free endpaper and the armorial bookplate of Thomas Wallace, Jr., Ellerslie Hall on the front pastedown beneath the endpaper design, no other markings.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
