About This Item
Munich / New York: Prestel, 1995. Softbound. As new. Black, color-illustrated wraps. 168 pp., 206 bw plates. These "graphic diaries" provide a precise record of the artist's ideas during the second half of 1928, and document one of the most important turning-points in Picasso's style: the resurgence of his interest in abstraction and the decontruction of form that followed the neo-classicism of the work done earlier in the 1920s. This book was published to accompany the exhibition of this Paris sketchbook, as well as 62 sheets from a sketchbook from Dinard that was held at the Wilhelm Lehmbruck Museum and the Hamburger Kunsthalle in 1995. Text is in German.
