London, Warne, (1888).. No date, inscribed 1891, small 4to, 255 x 205 mm, 10 x 8 inches, cloth backed cream boards with enchanting coloured illustration of 2 little girls, green patterned endpapers, 48 pages. Colour illustrated frontispiece and title page, 16 full page pretty chromolithograph illustrations, all of young children, some with text inset, many large tinted illustrations in text, all by Jessie Watkins. Corners slightly worn, cardboard just showing at tips, inner joints cracked, binding sound, neat inscription on verso front endpaper, some pale foxing, 1 closed margin tear with old paper repair. A very good bright clean copy. Children in the countryside, playing, gathering nuts, with their dolls, running after their kitten, in the rain, at the sea-side, with hoops and skipping ropes, at dancing class.
