About This Item

From the Introduction: "This book is based on the five volumes of my Makers and Finders: a History of the Writer in America, 1800-1915."

From front cover: "More than 500 photographs and drawings plus text..." The work is condensed to one-sixth of the original text while retaining its flow.

DJ notes that this was a book dividend of the Book of the Month Club.

Book - Very Good condition. Blue patterned paper over boards with navy cloth spine that has a red block with gold gilt text. Minimal edge/corner wear except top edge has some fading and top corners are bumped. Text is clean and binding is tight.

Dust Jacket - Poor condition. Front image color is good, but there are many large tears and chips, plus a little soiling/discoloration. Now in clear protective cover.

Please use photos as part of the description.

241 pages, plus Index.
