London: Jonathan Cape, 1955. Finely bound example of Wavell's fine anthology. Octavo, bound in full crushed red morocco by Sangorski and Sutcliffe with gilt titles and tooling to the spine in six compartments within raised gilt bands, gilt ruling to the front and rear panel, gilt turn-ins and inner dentelles, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt. In very good condition, Established in London in 1901, Sangorski & Sutcliffe is considered one of the most important bookbinding companies of the 20th century, famous for its exquisite bindings decorated with gold leaf.
