The Artist, 1965. Original woodcut print on rice paper , paper size 12 1/4" x 16", image size 8" x 11", pencil signed bottom right with pencil title "Head of a Woman", 6/9, 1964 ? ( pencil faint). Near Fine, bottom edge with 1/2" horizontal fold, small hole edge of right margin. Betty Hahn is best known for her photographic artworks, which have incorporated a range of artistic techniques unconventional to that medium. Her works are in many museum, university, and private collections worldwide, including The Chicago Art Institute, The Museum of Modern Art, J. Paul Getty Museum, and the Smithsonian Institution. This woodcut is an early work, dating from her MFA years at Indiana University in the mid-1960's, and her works from this era are SCARCE. . SIGNED BY ARTIST. Print. Near Fine. 12 1/4" x 16".

Swinburne, printed on imperial Japanese paper. The engravings for the first edition were reworked as silhouettes in the second edition. Privately printed by Stols for the collector Baron Emile van der Borch van Verwolde. The second edition of Dolores was limited to 40 copies. 9 engravings measure 10 x 5 cm., the head- and tailpieces measure 5 x 5 cm. Sheets are 25 x 16 cm. The tailpiece of a female nude with three ravens refers to the coat-of-arms of Emile, Baron van der Borch van Verwolde. Very rare. .

Summary: Mr. Gillis was a friend of American author/humorist Mark Twain and was with him at Virginia, Nevada in the Goldrush days. In 1859 placer miners in the Great Basin discovered the largest gold and silver strike that had happened in the United States up until that time. RARE H. Glintenkamp WOODCUTS. Used.
