About This Item

Baltimore, Maryland: Unpublished, 1956. Large (12 inches by 16 inches) mounted gelatin silver print of the cargo freighter "Robin Trent" being assisted by the tugboat "C. Stewart Lee" in Baltimore Harbor circa 1956. Signed by Marx on the mount just below the bottom right corner of the photograph and with the photographer's credit stamp on the verso of the mount. From 1937 until 1955 Marx was a photographer for the Baltimore Sun and was named the national Newspaper Photographer of the Year in 1953. After leaving the Sun he established his own photography business, often doing assignment projects for companies such as The Curtis Bay Towing Company, the owners of the "C. Stewart Lee." The print is in near-fine condition on a lightly soiled mount. The mount has some staining and a piece of tape--all limited to the edges, well away from the photograph.. First Edition. Paper. Very Good-. Illus. by Hans Marx. 12 inches by 16 Inches. Photo.
