Undated.. Undated pen and ink drawing on paper, image size approximately: 100 x 140 mm, 4 x 5½ inches. It depicts a friendly-looking dragon emitting smoke from his nostrils. Quentin Blake has signed the bottom right corner "QB". A charming image but we have failed to discover whether or not it was done for a children's book. Ink a little pale, otherwise Fine condition, in a cream mount, ready for framing. MORE IMAGES ATTACHED TO THIS LISTING, ALL ZOOMABLE, FURTHER IMAGES ON REQUEST. POSTAGE AT COST.

With 2 original woodcuts by Heinrich Campendonk. They are printed on slightly heavier paper than the text pages, with tissue guards and full margins. They are printed with a rich chocolate brown ink, and are both in very nice condition. There are 12 other illustrations in sepia tones on different paper stock + the illustration on the front cover. A little chipping to the edges of the covers, otherwise fine. Large 4to, 11" high X 9" wide, 7 pages of text + illustrations and original woodcuts. Call or e-mail for digital photographs. 1955. HOOGENDYK, Marianna van Rossen. 1955 SKETCHBOOK WITH 90 ORIGINAL DRAWINGS, PAINTINGS, WATERCOLORS & MIXED MEDIA PIECES. In a standard composition notebook (unlined); there are blank pages following the paintings/drawings, and the next to last two pages are pencil lecture notes. The first page, a pencil, ink and wash drawing of a young girl, is dated 4/4/55. The rest are undated; all are unsigned, but the notebook cover bears the artist's name in capital letters. Ms. Hoogendyk, also known as Marianne, was an art student at the Sorbonne; her family was from Sharon, Connecticut at the time. There are some accomplished sketches of buildings, of circus scenes with animals and clowns, some studies of men and children on the street, of musicians in concert/jamming, and of costumed dancers (most of the latter are crayon or pastel). A nicely preserved archive. 20 pencil, ink and wash drawings; 39 pencil sketches; 7 watercolors; 17 crayon/pastel drawings; and 7 mixed media pieces.

Patent was issued Feb 27, 1945, number 140,435. Embossed stamp of "Reynolds Bristol Board" made in England on sheet 1. Embossed stamp of "Patent Office Dietzgen Bristol Board" on sheet 2.
