About This Item

1991., 1991.. Very good. - A 4-1/2 inch high by 6-1/4 inch wide envelope marking the 30th Anniversary of the world's first space flight. The stamp depicts 2 Soviet cosmonauts who were on Soyuz 24. An attractive pictorial postmark dated "12-04-1991" is stamped at the corner of the postage stamp. The cover is signed by both Gorbatko and Glaznov below the stamp. There is a third signature on the verso that we have not been able to identify. Very good.

Viktor Vassilyevich Gorbatko (1934-2017), a Major General in the Soviet Air Force, flew on the Soyuz 7, 24 and 37 Space missions.

Yuri Nikolayevich Glazkov (1939-2008), a major general in the Soviet Air Force flew as a flight engineer on the Soyuz 24 space mission and was made a Hero of the Soviet Union. He became the first Deputy Chief of Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center and wrote several books.
