Murray Abraham for Best Actor (Amadeus), Sally Field for Best Actress (Places in the Heart), Haing S. Ngor for Best Supporting Actor (The Killing Fields), Peggy Ashcroft for Best Supporting Actress (A Passage to India), Robert Benton for Best Original Screenplay (Places in the Heart), Peter Shaffer for Best Adapted Screenplay (Amadeus, based on his play), and Dangerous Moves for Best Foreign Film, directed by Richard Dembo.
