Pp. xxi, 432; 1 foldout phylogenetic diagram. Publisher’s original forest green cloth with spine lettered in gilt and with ornate gilt decorations at the top and bottom of the spine, the front and rear cloth-covered boards have blind-stamped border decorations, patterned endpapers, 8vo. This is Freeman 451, the forty-ninth thousandth of the sixth edition. The sixth edition contains the final definitive text by Darwin – it was not revised again after the publication of this sixth edition.
