About This Item

New York: D. Appleton and Company, 1889. Cloth. Very Good +. A handsome copy of this 1889 "authorized" American edition, "with additions and corrections from sixth and last English edition". Complete in 2 octavo volumes. Both volumes clean and VG+ in their russet cloth, with bright gilt-titling along the spines. A touch of very light wear at the spine crowns, otherwise sharp and very clean. An impressive late 19th century edition of Darwin's magnum opus.

Synopsis

Charles Darwin's On the Origin of Species, published 24 November 1859, is a seminal work of scientific literature considered to be the foundation of evolutionary biology. Its full title was On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life.
