According to a Sotheby's catalogue note, this is the first edition of Sallust to include illustrations relating to the text. 2) Extract from: Bruni, Leonardo; Guarinus Veronensis. Polybius historicus de primo bello punico et Plutarchi Paralelia. Impressum Brixiae: per Iacobum Britannicum, 1498. The selection here is only the Paralelia. 6 ff, with title at head of first leaf: Guarini Veronensis Paralelia ex Plutarcho in latinu[m] co[n]versa Foeliciter Incipiut. Colophon on final page. 3) Publius Papinius Statius. Statii Syluae cum Domitii Commentariis. Et auancii sui Emendationibus Statii Thebais cum Lactantii Commentariis. Repairs with small losses of text to leaves CLXXIII and CLXXIV, otherwise complete. In a later binding of three-quarter leather and paper-covered boards, spine gilt, with four raised bands. Worming to spine leather, abrasion to boards and scuffing to leather, binding starting to crack at center, but essentially sound. Early manuscript annotations in Latin in the same hand throughout, as well as one leaf with notes on Guarino Veronese in English dated 1844.

Some soiling to boards and extremities. Light foxing, some yellow staining to pages. Ex Libris Neathman Mill Library stamp on rear fly leaf. Tight boards, pages otherwise clean and crisp with decorated black and white initials. A near fine copy. A Dominican friar and writer, Remigio Nannini produced religious as well as secular works, and poetry. Nannini published "two collections of orations drawn by historians (the first, Military Orations collected by all the ancient and modern historians, Venice, 1557)" [Cantimori, Delio. Italian Encyclopedia, 1934]. Nannini also went on to publish the works of St. Thomas Aquinas (1570) at the request of Pope Pius the V.
