About This Item
First edition, hardcover, New York, 1865. Condition is Very Good: primary condition issue is presence of a modern professional reproduction of the folding map. There is mild to moderate foxing seen on the plates, very little in the text. Some occasional old corner folds. No writing, vandalism or other issues. Binding is sound. Paginates: blanks(2), map, (i)-(viii), (9)-82, blanks(2), 8 unpaginated plates. Original blind stamped boards. Back board shows considerably more wear than the front. The new map is on laid paper similar to that used in the book. An extremely scarce book. None for sale. Last seen at auction 1908. Sabin 461. WorldCat locates 18 physical copies. Please see images of the book you will receive. Notes: Author not identified however occasionally attributed to C. H. Burt. His name can be seen on some of the plates. I have more info on this if you are interested. Feel free to inquire. More notes: the quality of the reproduced map was limited by the mediocre source material.
