About This Item
London: Victor Gollancz, 1954. Some creasing to edges of unclipped dustwrapper, some tears to top end of spine of same, and a hole about half-way up. Minor bumping to spine ends and corners of red boards, two previous owners' names on f/ep, one dated 1987, some yellowing to the pages, but otherwise a good clean tight copy of this hard-cover book. A dystopian novel set in a future where the population is expected to identify completely with the State, the story deals with a man who believes himself to be loyal but is accused of heresy and subjected to brainwashing. Also issued as "Escape to Nowhere". Originally published in the US in 1953, this is the first UK edition published by Gollancz in 1954. 256pp.. First UK Edition. Hard Cover. Good/Fair. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
