Cambridge, Massachusetts: Harvard University Press, 1949. 8.5" wide by 11.25" tall. Clean, square, tight, unmarked copy. Sharp corners. Bookplate. Dust Jacket is complete but soiled and lightly rubbed. Illustrated with 100 full-page drawings by 65 artists, 14th to 20th century. From the Introduction: "From late November 1948 through the first week of January 1949, there was held at the Fogg Museum of Art a special loan exhibition, 'Seventy Master Drawings.' The exhibition was assembled to honor Paul J. Sachs on the occasion of his seventieth birthday." This monograph is based on that exhibition, with the addition of thirty drawings from the Fogg's collections. "About twenty-three of the drawings are completely new to the American public... eighteen have not been reproduced anywhere before." Descriptive commentary accompanies each entry.
