About This Item

New York: Appleton-Century-Crofts, Inc., 1959. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. First Edition. Assumed First Edition as there are no additional printings indicated. Mild wear at the spine ends. The dust jacket has some edge wear, a bit of rubbing to the rear panel, and a 1.5-inch tear at the tail of the spine. Protected now in a Mylar sleeve. Late 1950s novel about an American suburban housewife, Donna, who seemingly is living the good life with her husband and children. But something is troubling Donna deep inside and with the help of a retired doctor, who is her neighbor and the narrator of this story, she embarks on a psychoanalytic journey of self-discovery. Just as she is on the verge of an answer to her troubles, she engages in some very risky behavior that threatens to destroy her and her family. From the dust jacket: "Reading One Firece Hour and Sweet is an experience as fascinating as eavesdropping on a psychoanalysis that delves deeply into the secret life behind the outward life.".
