London: Smith, Elder and Co., 1836. 8vo, pp. xvi, 303, [9] + frontispiece and 2 plates. Contemporary patterned purple cloth, spine lettered and blocked in gilt. Plates dampmarked. Spine somewhat sunned, extremities bumped and a little worn. This biography of Italian classical scholar Olympia Morata (1526-1555) is sometimes attributed to Caroline Anne Southey. It was first published in 1834, and carries an advertisement for the second printing of Smyth’s ‘Probation and Other Tales’ to the verso of the half-title.

About McNaughtan's Bookshop
Established in 1957, McNaughtan's Bookshop is the oldest surviving secondhand and antiquarian bookshop in Scotland. Located in the basement of a listed 1820s tenement building at the top of Edinburgh's Leith Walk, we are the only open shop in Edinburgh holding membership of the Antiquarian Booksellers Association.
